Are you considering switching your cat onto a BARF diet? You might be wondering: ‘Can I feed my cat raw chicken everyday?’. Your cat's ancestors NEVER dined on cooked meals – there are no ovens in the wild! Nor did they eat wheat, rice or any of the fillers you find in traditional dry or wet foods. Our cat’s wild ancestors ate raw meat to feed.
Cats are obligate carnivores – they have to eat meat to survive (and thrive). When you switch your cat to a raw diet, they will be getting the proteins they need in the most direct and natural way – raw. With no manmade chemicals, raw feeding is the most natural way to feed your cat.
Can I feed raw chicken everyday?
We would never recommend you just feed raw chicken –- your cat will not be getting the right mix of vitamins and minerals they need. You should always feed food that is balanced and complete, that means it has all the essential nutrients and building blocks for your cat's health and well-being.
Also you need to make sure that any raw meat you feed is of the highest quality. Check that the chicken is fresh and free range. Also make sure that it comes from a reputable supplier.
If you feed your cat a balanced recipe which contains raw chicken, they will experience a huge amount of health benefits.
- Smaller, less smelly poo
- Softer, shinier fur with less shedding and fewer hairballs
- Fresher breath and better oral health
- More energy
- Easier weight management
- Supports digestion and urinary health
Ultimately you will have a happier cat that will thrive and feeding a cat a raw diet can even reduce your cat’s drive to hunt birds and small mammals.
Cats need amino acids to stay healthy, and there are plenty of those in raw chicken.

Can I feed raw chicken bones?
Feeding raw chicken bones is a great workout for your cat's teeth. However NEVER feed a cooked chicken bone – this can splinter and hurt your cat. Raw chicken bones are high in calcium, magnesium, potassium, and phosphorus. As with all treats and toys, always watch your cat when they’re eating raw chicken bones.
