1985. Bill Gates launches Windows. Madonna releases Like A Virgin
Meanwhile in Wales,
Dylan aged 11 creates Mini Models, his first business selling clay models in the playground. Recruits fellow classmates to turn £30 into several thousand which his mum makes him give to Band Aid. Hmmm
Reads law at university and wonders why?! Meets Ivana Trump and ballroom dances/stands on her feet. Life changes direction
Roll on a couple of decades. Dylan has been fired from 13 jobs…
However, his entrepreneurial and creative spirit sees him working across many different industries, for some of the the biggest global brands but also small startups, many of which have become international household names
BUT none of this was satisfying – he wanted to achieve something more than chocolate, fizzy drinks, mobile phones and handbags…yes handbags
Another life change at 36
Poppy, his first dog, comes into his life – chewing rugs, refusing to walk on her lead and pooping on the kitchen floor
It was love at first squidge
Poppy becomes a mum of 6 (Jeffrey, Chewy, Katie, Kobi, Archie and little Slipper)
Family moves to rural Wiltshire,
and Dylan finds contentment and good food which has a dramatic/enormous/vast/significant impact on his waistline
And so commences a massive health kick
to shift the muffin top/victoria sponge
Out with the processed foods,
(and ice cream) in with the fresh!
But what about Poppy?
While consuming a delicious morning smoothie, Dylan sees the light! Poppy was caught in an eternal Groundhog Day, eating processed brown pellets
Her diet had to change
Dylan pesters vets, bombards nutritionists and quizzes canine experts
Conclusion:
raw food was the best, most natural way to feed Poppy, in fact any dog
Apron on,
he starts experimenting with recipes and after a weekend of culinary discovery that Delia Smith herself would be proud of,
Poppy’s first raw meals were ready
Before long,
friends and neighbours wanted the same wholesome raw food for their own four-legged friends
Say woof to Poppy’s Picnic!
Gaby, a little black schnauzer
joins the gang in 2018, and is the first family member to be bred and fed
on Poppy’s Picnic!
And what a ride it’s been, helping dog-lovers introduce raw feeding to bowls around the world
From Dragons’ Den to Hong Kong via a record breaking crowdfunding campaign and a shelf full of awards, it has been an exhilarating (as well as challenging) journey
Only recently, Dylan found out he is dyslexic which in part explains being fired from 13 jobs, his love of speed and (some might say)
his unconventional attitude to problem solving
And as in all good stories, they lived happily ever after
Woof and squirrels
