FAQ section
Yes. Cats are obligate carnivores, meaning they naturally require a meat-based diet. A high-quality raw diet reflects this biological need, helping to support overall health, vitality, and wellbeing. Our recipes have been carefully developed with input from veterinary and nutritional experts to ensure they are complete and balanced in line with FEDIAF nutritional guidelines. They are free from preservatives, artificial flavourings, fillers, and unnecessary additives. FEDIAF (the European Pet Food Industry Federation) provides a recognised benchmark for essential nutrients, vitamins, and minerals required for pets to thrive.
As understanding of feline nutrition continues to evolve, many veterinary professionals and animal nutritionists recognise the benefits of feeding a fresh, species-appropriate diet. Cats can be sensitive to excessive carbohydrates, sugars, and artificial additives often found in processed foods. A balanced raw diet may support improved digestion, weight management, healthier skin and coat, reduced allergy symptoms, and better dental health. As always, any dietary change should be made with proper guidance to ensure nutritional completeness. Our recipes were created with the help of renowned raw vet, Dr Charlotte Gray MA (Hons) MA VetMB (cantab) MRCVS
BARF stands for 'Biologically Appropriate Raw Food'. This approach is designed to mimic what cats would naturally consume in the wild - primarily raw meat, organs, and small amounts of bone. As obligate carnivores, cats rely on animal-based nutrients such as taurine, which are naturally present in raw meat. A properly formulated BARF diet includes the essential vitamins, minerals, and fatty acids needed to support optimal feline health.
When feeding a properly prepared, balanced, and quality-controlled raw diet, the risk of parasites is extremely low. Reputable raw food producers use high-quality ingredients and follow strict safety and hygiene standards, including testing before products are distributed. Cats, like their wild ancestors, have digestive systems adapted to handling raw meat. Their short digestive tract and highly acidic stomach environment help break down food efficiently. Feeding a carefully sourced and nutritionally balanced raw diet minimises risks while supporting natural digestion.
Switching from highly processed food to a raw diet can lead to noticeable changes in your cat’s stool. Many owners report smaller, firmer stools with a lot less odour. This is because raw diets typically contain fewer fillers and more digestible, nutrient-dense ingredients. During the initial transition, some cats may experience mild digestive changes, but these usually settle quickly as their system adjusts. Over time, improved nutrient absorption often results in reduced stool volume and better overall digestive health.
