Poppy's Picnic is the first raw dog and cat food brand to be awarded the new quality and safety standard for raw pet food manufacturers. 

The scheme, set up by trade association UK Pet Food, is independently run by acclaimed certification scheme experts, KIWA.

The reason this matters so much is that until now there has simply not been a fully independent safety standard for raw pet food, so this is a groundbreaking, vital scheme. 

The scope of the scheme includes plant design and maintenance, supplier assurance, safe product formulation, full traceability systems, safe handling, quality checks, microbiological testing, a programme of internal auditing, staff training and labelling compliance.  

Michael Bellingham, UK Pet Food CEO advises: “The certification scheme is based on a comprehensive standard, encompassing all aspects of hygiene and feed safety. It applies to the entire process from the selection of raw materials to the finished goods. It’s developed with the objective of ensuring safe products for our pets.”
